Lesser Slow Loris occurs in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam (the species is also reported locally from China, but it stays unclear if these specimens are of wild or captive origin). The wild population continues to decline. The main threats include hunting for food and use in traditional medicine, pet trade and habitat loss due to agriculture.

Conservation

■ Included in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 1988, listed as Endangered (EN) since 2020.
■ Captive population data are recorded in International Studbook, it is kept by Zoological Society of San Diego.
■ The species is managed under the EEP (EAZA Ex-situ Programme), it is coordinated by Zoo Poznan.
■ Listed in Appendix I of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES, or Washington Convention).
