CITES II

The Serval occurs widely in sub-Saharan Africa. It is absent only from tropical rainforests and true deserts. The population is currently stable. The main threats include wetland habitat loss and degradation as well as the commercial trade of skins.

Conservation

■ Listed in Appendix II of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES, or Washington Convention).
