Main threats are harvesting for the skin, traditional medicine and pet trade, as well as habitat degradation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burmese Python is also established as an invasive species in the wild in Florida via the pet trade, and negatively affects native species there.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conservation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25a0 Included in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 2012 as&nbsp;<strong>Vulnerable&nbsp;<\/strong>(VU).<br>\u25a0 Listed in Appendix II of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (<strong>CITES<\/strong>, or Washington Convention).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taxonomy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25a0 Phylum Chordata \u2013 chordates<br>\u25a0 Class Reptilia \u2013 reptiles<br>\u25a0 Order Squamata \u2013 scaled reptiles<br>\u25a0 Family Pythonidae \u2013 pythons<br>\u25a0 Species&nbsp;<em>Python bivittatus<\/em>&nbsp;\u2013 Burmese Python<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burmese Pyhton previously was considered a subspecies of Rock Python, as&nbsp;<em>Python molurus bivittatus<\/em>.
