Giraffes are distributed in Africa. The numbers are in decline. There are four major threats that affect Giraffe populations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25a0 habitat loss due to deforestation, land use conversion, agricultural expansion and human population growth; 
\u25a0 civil unrest and armed conflicts;
\u25a0 poaching; 
\u25a0 ecological changes associated with mining, agricultural expansion, and climate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conservation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25a0 Giraffe is included in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species since 1996, listed as Vulnerable <\/strong>since 2016.
\u25a0 The species is managed under the EEP <\/strong>(EAZA Ex-situ Programme), currently it is coordinated by Opel Zoo, Germany.
\u25a0 Listed in Appendix II of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES<\/strong>, or Washington Convention).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
