Osmoderma eremita
In 2005, entomologists Aleksandrs Napolovs and Ilona Roma participated in the development of a conservation plan for the endangered fox-tailed ground beetle (Osmoderma eremita).In 2006, Aleksandrs Napolovs together with two other experts carried out the project “Search for new localities of the Latvian population of fox-tailed ground beetle Osmoderma eremita, establishment of a localities register and design of microreserves”, Ilona Roma participated in the field work. The project was funded by the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund. Each of the three experts surveyed 22 000 km². During the project, 104 known localities of the species were checked. Of these, 68 were confirmed and 49 new localities were found.
