Riga National Zoological garden – the oldest in the Baltics – is located by Lake Ķīšezers in Mezaparks. On the other side of the main gate that was built in 1912, lives more than 3000 animals from different continents. The historical buildings stand next to modern exposition, garden landscapes and animal life events change in the course of the seasons. Currently the area of the Riga ZOO is about 20 hectares.

When planning a visit to the zoo, keep in mind that:
•Seeing all the exhibits in a leisurely manner might take no less than 2-3 hours
•In the territory of the zoo there is a paid parking lot
•There are nice places for picnic
•There are several cafes and kiosks (open during the summer period)
