Siebenrock’s Snake-necked Turtle occurs in New Guinea and north of Australia. The main threat is international live animal trade. Some local consumption in Papua New Guinea also exists.

Taxonomy in snake-necked turtles is still somewhat unclear and can be a subject of change.
