Salmon-crested Cockatoo is an endemic species of Indonesia. The population is decreasing. The major threats are poaching and habitat destruction.
Conservation
■ Included in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 1988, listed as Vulnerable (VU) since 1994.
■ The species is managed under the EEP (EAZA Ex-situ Programme), currently it is coordinated by Mandai Wildlife Reserve, Singapore.
■ Listed in Appendix I of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES, or Washington Convention).
