Pygmy Marmosets occur in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. The numbers decrease. Threats include hunting, use as pets, international trade and, in some localities, habitat loss.

Conservation

■ Listed as Vulnerable (VU) in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species since 2020.
■ The species is managed under the EEP (EAZA Ex-situ Programme), it is coordinated by Belfast Zoo.
■ Pygmy Marmoset is listed in Appendix II of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES, or Washington Convention).
