Muscovy Duck

Wild Muscovy Duck has a large range across South America and the southern of North America. Being widespread, it still is only locally common (e.g. in Nicaragua and parts of Guatemala). The numbers are decreasing. Main threats are hunting and habitat destruction. Also egg-collecting and hybridization with domestic birds can play a role.

Muscovy Ducks have been domesticated by Azteks and other Native American cultures. Now they are common worldwide.
