Leopard Gecko is an Asian species that is distributed in Pakistan as well as Afghanistan, India and Nepal. The presence in Iran is uncertain.
The species is widespread within most of its range. The numbers are stable, and there appear to be no major threats affecting this species.
Leopard Gecko is a very popular pet animal and common in the international pet trade. Mostly captive bred geckos are in stock, but both legal and illegal collection from the wild are also ongoing.
