Common Marmosets occur in Brazil. The numbers are currently estimated as stable. Threats include habitat destruction and pet trade.
Conservation
■ The EAZA population of the Common Marmoset is monitored under the Invasive Marmoset EEP (EAZA Ex-situ Programme). The programme was established in 2020, it is coordinated by Twycross Zoo.
■ Listed in Appendix II of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES, or Washington Convention).
